At Vinterior, clear and accurate visuals are essential. They help buyers understand exactly what they’re purchasing and build trust in both the platform and your pieces. As AI-generated imagery becomes more accessible, we’re introducing guidelines to ensure it’s used responsibly and transparently.
These rules are here to protect the buyer experience, while still allowing room for creativity where appropriate.
AI Image Rules
You may use AI-generated images in your listings, but only under the following conditions:
The item must remain recognisable
AI images must not significantly change the shape, colour, material, scale, or condition of the piece. They should not enhance or distort the item in any way.
Include an unedited image
At least one image in the listing must show the piece with no AI editing applied, though we recommend seven from multiple angles to give buyers a complete, honest view. This gives buyers a true, unaltered reference alongside any AI-generated imagery.
Clear labelling is required
If you use AI-generated lifestyle imagery, you must disclose this in your listing description. Be sure to state which images are AI-generated, for example:
“Images 3 and 4 use AI imagery”.
You can also choose to include a brief explanation for your use of AI imagery, such as: “…to show how this piece might look in a home setting”.
If these rules are not followed, the listing will be returned to you for updates. Continued non-compliance will result in the listing being removed from the platform.
Using AI images is optional, but when used, they must support, not compromise, trust, accuracy, and the quality standards buyers expect on Vinterior.
Please note: use of AI imagery is done at your own risk. Any items returned due to a mismatch with AI-generated imagery, in shape, colour, material, scale, or condition, are your responsibility as the seller. This includes covering the cost of return shipping.
An example of bad AI imagery:
Original item
AI enhanced image
Here, AI hasn't just adjusted the setting, it's changed the piece itself. The colour has shifted entirely: the two original shades have merged into one, and the wood itself now appears to be a different type. A buyer looking at this image would be misled about what they're actually buying, which is exactly what these guidelines are designed to prevent.
An example of good AI imagery:
Original item
AI enhancement:
As you can see, the piece itself hasn't changed. Colour, material, scale, shape, and condition are all true to the original. What's changed is the setting: the background has been adjusted to show how the piece might look in a home. The AI tool supports the piece rather than overshadowing it.
